Mi nombre es Brenda. My friends call me B. And Bren is my stage and pen-name. I’m a single gal living alone in Atlanta for the time being. I’m a soulful chick. I have a passion for all things food. I sing and song-write on the side, but cooking is what pays my bills! I like to say I’m a pretty darn cook! I was raised in a very traditional Latin home, which meant everything happened(s) in the kitchen, literally! story-telling, crying, partying, fighting...oh yeah and cooking!
Nutmeg

Nutmeg, or “nuesmoscada” is common in Latin cooking but not as much as we see in American cusisine. In Cuban food, you’ll always find it in bechamel suaces, especially when making croquettes. Though not a staple in Latin food, it’s definitely something I love to use. Its aroma and essence add something very special to dishes. I’ve recently been using it a lot with my sweet plantain dishes!

Cibernauta (see-bir-now-ta)
(noun)
internet user
This is a new word for me. Both Spanish and English share many words derived from Greek or Latin. In the case of el cibernauta, however, while the word cybernaut exists in English, it is not very common, and has a slightly different meaning from the Spanish. Cibernauta is the basic word for anybody who is an internet user, whether proficient or otherwise

Oh my gosh! These badboys were a b-day gift from my photographer! Can you imagine me pressure cooking in these sweet mama’s!!?
