Hi, I’m a Cuban girl named Bren! My friends call me B. And Chelsea is my alter-ego. I cook, sing, and freelance travel write, professionally. I’m a single gal living in Atlanta for the time being. I’m a soulful chick. I have a passion for all things food. I like to say I’m good ass cook, especially with the pressure cooker! I was raised in a very traditional Latin home, which meant everything happened(s) in the kitchen, literally! story-telling, crying, partying, fighting…oh yeah and cooking!
Star Anise

Really native to China and India, Star Anise is an evergreen seed we use in our foods to give dishes a distinct flavor. Its licorice aroma and taste definitely makes for a unique flavor. Our primary use though is to alleviate stomach pain and gas associated with acid reflux. I grew up drinking anise tea my mom would make if any of us felt sick. So today I make tea when I don’t feel so well. It really does help! Stick a few stars in boiling water and let it steep for 3 minutes. I also have started using it to make drinks and dessert. A new fave spice in my rack!

Nunca (noon-kah-)
(adverb)
never
You use nunca rather differently from English: when you use nunca after the verb phrase you need to insert the negative word no before the verb phrase:
No lo he visto nunca; translation: I’ve never seen it.

Let’s see. I own over 150 hats and anytime I see a new one I really like, I must have! This one from Banana Republic doesn’t escape my budget! Knit button beanie, $29

This incredibly bad looking Concord C1 Tourbillon Gravity is the hottest thing in men’s timepieces. I’d rock it too! But for $320,000 I’ll stick to my Movado!
