This is my favorite spice in my cooking. With its origins found in Iran as a major supplier, cumin is most popular in Cuban, Thai and Indian cuisines. Cumin seeds come from the apiaceae plant whose flowers are small pink and white. I use either whole seed or ground cumin in ALL of my meats, chicken, and sometimes even salads. It has a great smoky aroma and adds a wonderfully rich taste. My mother always criticizes my amount but I go for what makes me smile when I bite! How do you use Cumin?
Mi nombre es Brenda. My friends call me B. And Bren is my stage and pen-name. I'm a single gal living alone in Atlanta for the time being. I'm a soulful chick. I have a passion for all things food. I'm a singer/musician really, but an incredible cook, I have to say! I was raised in a very traditional Latin home, which meant everything happened(s) in the kitchen, literally! story-telling, crying, partying, fighting...oh yeah and cooking!

I just started using cumin in some spice rubs that I made for the holidays. I definitely need to explore more ways to use it.

I use it often, usually as a component in rubs for meat. It just gives everything a bit more punch
