Chili Powder

chilipowder Chili Powder

Popularly used in American cooking, chili powder is essentially a mix of red peppers including cayenne, ancho and chipotle (and others to personal taste). I’ve used it to make a really good turkey chili. It adds a great smoky flavor to certain foods, as some powder mixes may even include black pepper, cumin and even nutmeg. There are a variety of chili powders out there, but why not be creative and come up with your own? Do you have a mix you like to use? Let me know!

I have to start becoming more experimental with my spices. If I was as adventurous with my spices as I am with my shoes, it might improve some of my culinary adventures.

    Mike says:

I wish I had access to a greater variety of peppers. My chili powder is very much opportunist–whatever I’ve got at the moment goes in!
