March is here and you know exactly what that means! Spring is around the corner; outdoor patio dining is on the horizon and basketball games are all the chatter; at least among sports fanatics.
I used to be this serious college student that would only make social free time for games. UVa had a relatively competitive football team, which brought the crowds in the thousands. But, we always had much more success with our basketball team. Playing UNC was always a big deal. I won’t share who our star players were, as I’ll date myself, but know that we made it to one Sweet 16 while I was studying.
With any sport, food is always the second most important element to enjoying the event. What are we going to eat or where are we going to tailgate? Those were always innate questions when getting ready to attend a game. As a college student, the grub standard was always fries, chicken wings with any variety and lots of sauce, hotdogs, colossal burgers, pizza, over-salted pretzels, poorly battered chicken strips, beer and maybe a fish and chips plate (if you had a few more bucks to spare.)
